• 20 years of experience in the Arctic and marine research
• The scientific staff of 40 people, including 3 Doctors of Sciences, 8 PhD’s, up to 10-12 PhD students
• Implementation of dozens of studies and projects funded by the European Union, Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Ministry of Science, Roshydromet, the Russian Space Agency, the European Space Agency, various research councils, national and international government agencies and industrial enterprises
• Research network of 150 researchers, including 50 graduate students in the Nansen-group including the research centers in Norway, Russia, China, India and South Africa
• Establishment of a global network of scientific cooperation in space environmental research encompassing research centers and industrial companies
• Recipient of the Descartes Award of the European Union in 2005 for the project “Changes in the environment and climate in the Arctic» (CECA)
• Participation in scientific expeditions to the Arctic
• Organization of international conferences and summer schools for young scientists on topics related to studying the Earth from space
• Publication of hundreds of articles in peer-reviewed national and international journals, 15 books and more than 400 scientific reports

• Defense of 24 PhD theses under the Nansen Fellowship Program to support graduate students
